The previous Mama’s Jasje album, released in 2023, carried the meaningful title Het Beste Moet Nog Komen. With their new record Ik Heb Wel Eens The Blues, Peter Vanlaet proves those words were far from empty.

Over the past two years, Peter wrote a collection of new songs guided by a clear vision and a carefully considered plan. His ambition was simple yet bold, to create an album unlike anything previously made in Flanders.

Blues is more than a music genre. It is a feeling. In songs such as Aan een onbekende ziel and Alleen maar, you can hear that deep melancholy. In Mijn dag die net begon, Huidhonger, Vanuit de onderbuik and the autobiographical Maak van je shit een hit, classic blues riffs form the foundation of what may well be Mama’s Jasje’s strongest album to date.

Inspired by songwriters such as Jeff Buckley and Tom Waits, Peter brings the new songs to the stage with his five-piece band, intense, honest and straight from the heart.

The band’s classic hits are also given a new dimension in this show, wrapped in moaning blues notes and pure emotion.
