Als de muren konden praten - vrouwen zingen Tura

Barbara Dex, Andrea Croonenberghs & Els Dottermans

Will Tura, the emperor of Flemish music. But he is so much more than that. A true monument, as Gert Verhulst rightly calls him. For 65 years, he has shaped our musical history. He recorded nearly 1,000 songs. Tura was not only a singer, but also a gifted composer. He wrote almost all of his songs himself, often with lyrics by Nelly Byl. His repertoire is remarkably versatile: from cabaret and Dutch-language chansons to cheerful pop, from jazz to gospel, from rock ’n’ roll and country to even rap. That is precisely what makes him such a fascinating artist — a true phenomenon.

Andrea Croonenberghs, Els Dottermans and Barbara Dex previously paid a beautiful tribute to Boudewijn de Groot — much to the delight of the master himself. Three singers, each with their own unique perspective, who know better than anyone how to give each song a personal touch, always with respect for the original.

Now, together and individually, they bring a tribute to Tura. Creative and distinctive, yet always warm and deeply respectful of the lyrics. Choosing the songs was no easy task — there is enough material for five theatre programmes. Expect an afternoon filled with major hits, but also be surprised by nearly forgotten gems.
