Olivier Strebelle
Most of Olivier Strebelle’s works are inspired by living organisms. The basic element is the invisible. These organisms, when enlarged, give Strebelle’s work a distinctive and personal structure, representing things we know but cannot actually see.Between 1943 and 1947, he studied at La Cambre in Brussels, where sculpture and ceramics were his main disciplines. Here too, Léon Stynen, architect and director of La Cambre, commissioned him to design two monumental ceramic works (200 x 140 x 60 cm) for the Kursaal in Ostend: Triton and Mermaid.
